A Burglary

I went to a burglary of a habitation on Monday. When I was dispatched to the call I was not too thrilled. The complainant was a woman I had assisted in arresting a few days earlier after her husband fell through a ceiling while hiding from officers.

I arrived on scene and went into a very run down two bedroom house. The woman told me that she had been at the hospital earlier because she was sick. While at the hospital a friend called all upset with her because a truck that belonged to the friend had been taken from the woman's house. The truck was broken and had been there long enough that the city was telling them it had to be moved so a family member of the woman moved the truck.

Anyway when the woman got home she found a TV and DVD's missing from the house and she thinks this lady took it. While I was talking with her we walked through the house and into a bedroom. There was a pile of wood and plaster on the floor and a hole in the ceiling. She told me that that had happened Friday night and wondered if I had been there. I told her I had been but I didn't tell her she wore my handcuffs to jail.

At the end of the shift I found out she had made a theft report earlier in the day over $1000 that was missing from her house. Being cynical like I am it made me wonder so I read the report. She told the officer some things that were not true so now I wonder about her credibility.
