Some Good News

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned taking a report on a stolen wallet. I heard last week that two suspects had been identified.

The city has a door to door public transportation service that runs in town. You call the company and ask for a pick up and they take you where you need to go. The bad guys rode this and the driver found the wallet after they got off. The driver remembered what they looked like and somehow the detectives were able to identify the suspects.

One of the suspects was arrested on unrelated charges after officers came in contact with her on a call. After she was arrested she gave a confession that implicated her and her boyfriend.
It turns out they are homeless and had been staying in the garage of a vacant house. They found the wallet and decided they needed some things, so they went on a shopping spree. They only bought essentials though, a DVD player, jewelry, some boots and other things.

A Reminder On Why I Hate Runaways

Friday I was dispatched to a runaway call. The address was familiar but I could not place it.....until I got there.

When I got to the call I met with a woman who greeted me by saying "you're one of the few who haven't been here before." That's when it hit me, this was the house of the runaway I had found last Sunday. So I told the mother that I hadn't been there before, but that I was the one that found her daughter last week.

It was a really easy report to take since I already had all the information from Sunday. It was just another reminder of why I hate dealing with runaways. You take the report, the runaway gets found so there is another report. Then the runaway runs away again.
